Rosacea is quite common skin problem occuring in adults – most often middle-aged women, but also men. About 10% of the population suffers from this ailment, often delaying with dermatological treatment. Acne spreads on the middle part of the face (forehead, nose, chin, sometimes cheeks). Untreated leads to uncontrolled growing of sebaceous glands, lymphedema, and cutaneous infiltrates. Rarely does it appear on the scalp or torso. In spite of the limited occurrence of the disease in men, they are more likely to develop severe case of rosacea, leading to rhinophyma, which is a tumorous lesion of the nose caused by tissue hypertrophy.

Rosacea is a disease very difficult to cure (especially in later stages), so it should not be downplayed. Chronic inflammation of the skin at a later stage of development can lead to very visible hypertrophy, which manifests itself as large skin tumors.

As you see there are various factors activating this form of acne, so it is not possible to completely eliminate the risk of occurrence of the problem. One of the first symptoms that should alert patient is hyperpigmentation caused by dilated blood vessels and itchy skin. Next on the skin appear nodules and purulent changes.

TREATMENT

Rosacea should be cured right in the beginning. On that stage it is usually enough to avoid activities that may aggravate symptoms and follow the dermatologist’s recommendations. Conventional treatment may be complemented with laser treatment. To start the treatment, you need to consult with dermatologist beforehand and complete current antibiotic therapy.
